Mercury is a metal that is liquid at room temperature. Graphite (a form of carbon) is a non-metal that conducts electricity.

Also accept: Accept 'mercury' for liquid metal, 'graphite', 'carbon (graphite)' or 'silicon' for conducting non-metal.

Common mistakes: Stating sodium or potassium as liquid metals; these are only liquid at higher temperatures.
