Marking points

B1 · 1 mark · States any correct property of mild steel (e.g. 'malleable', 'ductile', 'strong', 'can rust', 'reletively soft', 'contains up to 0.25% carbon', 'prone to rusting').

B2 · 1 mark · States any correct property of high-carbon steel (e.g. 'hard', 'brittle', 'more resistant to wear than mild steel', 'contains 0.6–1.2% carbon').

Worked solution

Mild steel is malleable (accepts: ductile, strong, or can rust). High-carbon steel is hard (accepts: brittle, more resistant to wear).
