Marking points

B1 · 1 mark · States one valid advantage (e.g. uses available petroleum resource, can be very efficient now).

B2 · 1 mark · States one disadvantage (e.g. uses non-renewable resource/finite petroleum which will eventually run out).

Worked solution

One advantage is that hydration of ethene can use the petroleum already available to make ethanol quickly. One disadvantage is that petroleum is a non-renewable, finite resource, so it will eventually run out.
