Marking points

M1 (a) · 1 mark · Converts 18 litres to millilitres (18 × 1000 = 18000 ml).

A1 (a) · 1 mark · Correct calculation of number of glasses: 18000 ÷ 250 = 72.

A2 (b) · 1 mark · States there is 0 ml left over (no remainder after full glasses). (follow-through)

Worked solution

a) 1 litre = 1000 ml, so 18 litres = 18 × 1000 = 18000 ml.

So 72 glasses can be completely filled.

b) 72 × 250 = 18000 ml, so no water left over.
