Show answer
Refraction occurs with sound waves. For example, sound travels faster in warm air than in cold air, so as sound passes from cold to warm air, it changes speed and bends (refracts). It happens because the speed of sound changes in different media or temperatures.
Also accept: Water waves: Water waves moving from deep to shallow water slow down and change direction because their speed decreases.; Any correct wave example with explanation
Common mistakes: Giving an example without explanation; Repeating the light example

Marking points
B1 · 1 mark · Gives a suitable example (not light)
B1 · 1 mark · Explains that refraction occurs due to a change in speed when passing between different media
Worked solution
Sound waves can refract. For example, when sound passes from cold air to warm air, it changes speed and bends. This is because its speed is different in each region.
