Marking points
B1 · 1 mark · Describes gravitational potential energy converting to kinetic energy.
B2 · 1 mark · States that when the ball hits the ground, energy transfers to heat and sound.
Worked solution
When the ball is held at a height, it has gravitational potential energy. As it falls, this energy is transferred to kinetic energy. When it hits the ground and stops, the kinetic energy is transferred to energy stores such as heat and sound.
