Marking points

M1 (a) · 1 mark · Correct calculation of volume (length × width × height = 10 × 2 × 5).

M2 (b) · 1 mark · Convert 100 cm³ to m³ (100 × 10⁻⁶ = 0.0001 m³). (follow-through)

M3 (b) · 1 mark · Use density = mass / volume with correct values. (follow-through)

A1 (b) · 1 mark · Final answer with correct unit (kg/m³). (follow-through)

Worked solution

a) Volume = length × width × height = 10 cm × 2 cm × 5 cm = 100 cm³.

b) Convert volume to m³: 100 cm³ = 100 × 10⁻⁶ m³ = 0.0001 m³.

Density = 1.0 kg / 0.0001 m³ = 10,000 kg/m³.
