A solid has the same volume as a sphere with radius 2 cm. If the solid is a cube, what is the length of its side? Explain your steps.

Work this out on paper, then compare with the answer and worked solution below. With a free account you can submit written answers for marking.

Show answer

The volume of the sphere is (4/3)π(2³) = 33.51 cm³. The side of the cube is therefore ∛33.51 = 3.23 cm.

Common mistakes: Using diameter instead of radius; Not taking cube root
